  • Description

This course provides structured, competency-based training in Solution-Focused Wellness Counselling, aligned with a non-clinical scope of practice as outlined by the Association for Supportive Counsellors and Holistic Practitioners (ASCHP). It is designed to equip practitioners with the knowledge, practical tools, and confidence required to facilitate effective, goal-oriented wellness conversations in a variety of applied settings.

Grounded in a strengths-based and future-focused framework, the course focuses on helping clients move from problem-focused thinking toward clear, realistic, and achievable outcomes. Learners are trained in core solution-focused techniques, including the Miracle Question, scaling, exception-finding, and future-focused questioning, with a strong emphasis on immediate, real-world application.

A key focus of the course is developing practitioner competence in structuring time-efficient sessions, tracking client progress, and supporting sustainable behaviour change. The course also integrates complementary approaches such as Motivational Interviewing and psychoeducational support, enhancing the practitioner’s ability to engage clients, evoke motivation, and guide practical action.

Clear distinctions are made between solution-focused wellness counselling and clinical or problem-focused models, ensuring that learners understand how to work within the appropriate professional boundaries. Ethical practice, scope of application, and referral guidelines are embedded throughout, supporting responsible and professional service delivery.

By the end of the course, learners will be able to confidently apply a structured, solution-focused approach that is practical, ethical, and aligned with recognised wellness counselling standards—enabling them to support clients in creating meaningful, measurable change.
