  • Here is exactly what we cover in this course:

In a materialist world meaning has no meaning for the universe is a vast machine and the cogs and gears run their mechanical course. In the end human reaction becomes reduced to biochemical responses that are empty.   People have forgotten how to be really human, the miss out on how to exist as authentic homo sapiens who know the value of love, respect, truth and tolerance. Undergirding Logotherapy is the quest for soul, for subjective meaning that makes life worth living.  It sees purpose in life, discovers a goal to be achieved and finds happiness in human relationships. This is not religion, but simply the embrace of what life has to offer despite setbacks and disappointments. Meaning makes life worth living and fulfils our deepest human aspirations.

Logotherapy is a counselling method that follows meaning as leitmotif in inspiring passion and nudging us towards self-actualisation.  It appeals to our deeper awareness to find purpose beyond the fulfilment of needs.  Hence, it enables us to discover love beyond sex, motivates contentment without affluence, places a higher premium on illumination than knowledge and appreciates being alive more than being famous or wealthy. This explains why people may find meaning even in times of distress and vulnerability for meaning is not conditional.

In this study unit we will guide you through the precepts of Logotherapy and teach you how to use it in counselling to enrich the world of your clients.
