Personal Wellness for counsellors - a Narrative Therapy approach
This 4-part module offers a Narrative Therapy approach to the topic of Personal Wellness for counsellors. As counsellors and coaches working with people who are struggling, it is important to resource ourselves with Narratives that offer us reassurance and confidence. In this module we will invite you to look back into your own life and find stories that can resource you. We will also ask you to consider those stories that undermine your sense of personal and collective wellness

Description
As qualified practitioners of Narrative Therapy, Linda van Duuren (MTh) and Thérèse Hulme (DTh) have gained much experience during more than 23 years of practice, supporting and mentoring helping professionals such as teachers, counsellors, community workers and carers.
This 4-part presentation is designed for people who have an interest in experiencing the Narrative approach first hand in developing stories of wellness for their own lives.
Narrative Therapy comes from the postmodern and social construction ideas of the late 20th century. The Narrative metaphor refers to how we create stories about our
lives to make sense of our lives. These stories influence the meaning people make of events in their lives, and ultimately the way they live out their lives. We believe that in order to be available to people as counsellors, it is desirable for us to cultivate and protect our own stories of Personal Wellness.
