    Those called to pastor a faith community will find it necessary to study theology as part of preparation for entering the formal ministry. For such a person  theology would be an important background study for understanding the Bible and as a source for ministerial tasks. Church denominations normally require sound training in theological subjects such as Biblical studies, the ground languages, Systematic theology (Dogmatics), Biblical archaeology, etc.

    Although the inspired character of Scripture is very important for Christians, it is not the only source for theology.  Even unbelievers will benefit because  there are many other sources and perspectives when it comes to theology  - as will become clear during this study.
